Charles Bunyon Peeples (1899-1900)

Son of Judge and Mrs. R.A. Peeples, Sr., he was born on September 2, 1854, in Nashville, GA, and moved to Valdosta when he was a small boy. He lived in Gainesville, GA for several years, worked in Chattahoochee and Jacksonville, Florida for the Atlantic Coast Line, and later accepted a position as agent for the Atlantic Coast Line in Valdosta. He was a brick mason and laid brick on the old Lowndes County Courthouse, completed in 1872. He also helped build a number of brick stores in Valdosta. In later years, he operated a business which sold building materials. He served on city council for many years and was chairman of county commissioners. He married Lilla Keller, and adopted a daughter who became Mrs. T.B. Converse, Jr. He died on October 6, 1912 in Valdosta.
