African American History in Lowndes County

Here we look back and observe the history of the African-American people of Lowndes County and those individuals who helped lay the foundation upon which this community is built.  This exhibit is dedicated to all the African-Americans who have made sacrifices to make this county a better place for all people to live.  This exhibit’s sections, linked below, are divided roughly into chronological periods.  The information on these pages are also featured in a display that can be seen at the Lowndes County Historical Museum.
