Flanders Lace (2012-61Tb13)

Flanders Lace Doily:
Set of eight-
5 3/8 inches round
( Eager Collection, Lowndes County Historical Museum)

Typical of modern Flanders lace, this doily features a five hole mesh and cloth stitch areas which some refer to as “animal figures.” Since this is a set of eight, they were probably used to decorate individual desert plates. This piece is currently on display in the museum’s Handmade Lace Exhibit.
