WWII Textiles

The Lowndes County Historical Museum is honored to house a number of artifacts belonging to those from Lowndes County who served during WWII. Some of these artifacts include uniforms, medals, flags, banners as well as documents, photographs and personal souvenirs. Because the WWII Textile Collection is extensive, not every artifact detail can be shown on this website. However, an attempt is made here to represent each person whose WWII textile is housed in this museum. For a more extensive study of the collections, please visit the museum.  If a specific article is to be viewed in person, it is necessary to make an appointment several days in advance with the item number that appears above the picture. The museum continues to collect further information on the people to whom these textiles belonged. If you would like to contribute additional documented information about an individual seen on this site, please contact the museum by phone, e-mail, or written letter. Within this site, if a photograph is wished to be viewed larger, click on the image and a larger view and additional captions will appear. Thank you for visiting our WWII Lowndes County Textile Collection.
